PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The Hampton University women’s golf team finished 10th out of 18 teams over the weekend at the Rutgers Women’s Invitational, which took place Friday and Saturday at Rutgers University Golf Course, shooting an 82-over 658 (331-327).
Kala Williams led the Lady Pirates, shooting a 14-over 158 (79-79) to finish in a tie for 12th, while
Iman Ellis (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) finished in a tie for 23rd after firing an 18-over 162 (83-79). Ellis and Williams each recorded the team’s best round of the weekend, firing three rounds of 79 on the par-72 course.
Sydnee Mack (Las Vegas, Nev.) shot a 23-over 167 (82-85) to finish tied for 44th, and
Dionne West (Springdale, Md.) came in a tie for 63rd after firing a 27-over 171 (87-84).
Jeanne Waters of Rutgers and Michele Holzwarth of Fairleigh-Dickinson each finished atop the individual leaderboard, sitting a 5-over par after exchanging rounds of 76 and 73. Boston College won the team championship with a 40-over 616 (312-304).
The Lady Pirates will return to action this Monday and Tuesday, when they travel to Richmond, Va. for the University of Richmond Spider Invitational.
