HAMPTON SET FOR START OF MEAC CHAMPIONSHIPS

RALEIGH, N.C. -- The Hampton University tennis teams will both take the court bright and early at 8:30 a.m. on Friday to open the 2009 MEAC Tennis Championships at the Millbrook Tennis Center.
The Lady Pirates will face Bethune-Cookman (1-3), which comes in the No. 4 seed in the MEAC South. They met earlier this year in Sumter, S.C., where Hampton lost 1-6.
The Pirates will face the Spartans of Norfolk State (0-3), who knocked Hampton off last year in the first round of the MEAC Tournament with a 3-4 victory.
Both teams went undefeated in MEAC play during the regular season, looking to add the title “MEAC Tournament Champions” to their resumes.
