LITTLESTOWN, Pa. – The Hampton University men’s golf team finished 13th out of 13 teams in the Mount St. Mary’s Spring Invitational held at Quail Valley Golf Course on Monday and Tuesday, recording a two-day score of 693 (+117).
Arturo Saro (South Gate, Calif.) led the Pirates by finishing in a tie for 31st after firing a two-day score of 159 (+15), including a team-best 76 on in Tuesday’s second round.
Geffory Napper (Bowie, Md.) shot a 25-over 169 to finish 58th, while
Sidney Fields finished 67th with a two-day score of 181 (+37).
Javier Lopez (Chicago, Ill.) shot a 40-over 184 to come in 69th, while
Jason Sherer shot a 51-over 195 to finish 70th.
Army took the team title with a 15-over 591, while Army’s Matt Krembel won the individual title with a 3-under 141, which included a tournament-best 68 on Monday.
The Pirates will close out the 2009 season on May 8-11, when they travel to Port St. Lucie, Fla. for the PGA Minority Collegiate Golf Championship.
