PIRATES FINISH SIXTH IN SCSU BULLDOG CLASSIC

ORANGEBURG, S.C. – The Hampton University men’s golf team finished sixth out of seven teams in the South Carolina State Bulldog Classic held at Orangeburg Country Club on Saturday and Sunday, recording a two-day score of 645 (+69).
Arturo Saro (South Gate, Calif.) was the highest-finishing Pirate, shooting a 151 (+7) to finish in a tie for 10th. Saro shot a team-best 73 on Sunday. Senior Christopher Frazier (Dayton, Ohio) came in 22nd after shooting a 17-over 161.
Javier Lopez (Chicago, Ill.) shot a 24-over 168 to come in 28th, while Sidney Fields and Geffory Napper (Bowie, Md.) each shot 170 (+26) to finish in a tie for 29th.
Roberto Cacho of South Carolina State won the individual title, shooting a 2-under 142 on the par-72 course. Houston Baptist took the team title with a 3-over 579.
The Pirates will return to action on April 19-21, when they travel to Littlestown, Pa. for the Mount St. Mary’s Tournament.
