HAMPTON, Va. – Hampton University sophomore Reggie Dixon, who automatically qualified for the 2009 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships in the 100-meter dash, will also run in the 200-meter dash.
Dixon (Plainfield, N.J.) finished third in the 100-meter dash at the NCAA East Regional on May 30 with a season-best 10.21 to qualify automatically in that event. He finished ninth in the preliminaries of the 200-meter dash with a 20.89, missing the event finals, but he still earned an at-large qualifier.
Dixon won the 2009 MEAC outdoor title in the 200-meter dash, running a 20.71.
Dixon will join junior Francena McCorory in the NCAA Outdoor Championships;
McCorory (Hampton, Va.) will run in the 400-meter dash, looking to add to the NCAA title she won in the 2009 Indoor Championships.
The 2009 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be held June 10-13 in Fayetteville, Ark., at John McDonnell Field on the campus of the University of Arkansas.
