HAMPTON, Va. – The Hampton University men's basketball team has been afforded a great opportunity this offseason, one which should build team chemistry for the upcoming 2013-14 campaign for the Pirates.
The Pirates will take part in summer games in the Bahamas, which allows the team to conduct summer practice sessions (which come to an end on Tuesday). Hampton will then play three games during the trip, on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
For fifth-year head coach Edward "Buck" Joyner Jr., the opportunity allows the Pirates, who finished third in the MEAC last season, a chance to bond and develop more team chemistry, as a talented squad is a year older.
The Pirates (14-17, 11-5 MEAC in 2012-13) will also welcome seven newcomers this season.
