NEWPORT NEWS, VA. -- The Hampton University cross country teams stayed local on Saturday as they competed in the Christopher Newport University Invitational held at Lee Hall Mansion as both teams finished third in the NCAA Division I races.
Emmanuel Too was second to lead Hampton's men as he covered the 8k Lee Hall Mansion course running a 25:50. This marked the second straight top four finish for Too.Â
Geoffrey McCullough was fourth covering the 8k Lee Hall Mansion course in 26:02.Â
Stanley Davis was 12
th in 26:45, Teyvon Burris was 17
th in 28:51 and
Eric Ellis was 18
th in 31:39 to round out the Hampton scorers.Â
William & Mary won the men's race with 27 points and VCU edged Hampton for second scoring 50 points to the Pirates 51.
For the women, the five scoring Lady Pirates paced in the 15-23 range as Hampton finished third in the NCAA Division I race.Â
Asia Johnson was 15
th to lead Hampton in 24:11.0 with
Kayla Key (16
th/24:13) and
Pollyanna Velasco (17
th/24:18) were in the first wave for Hampton.  Rounding out the top five was
Alycia Higgins in 22
nd at 24:46 and
Amanda Delacruz in 23
rd in 24:48.0
VCU won the women's race with 22 points and William & Mary took second with 42 as Hampton scored 86 points.
Hampton will next see action on October 29 when they compete in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Championships hosted by Delaware State University in Dover, Delaware.
