LYNCHBURG, VA. – The Hampton University volleyball team opened action in the Liberty Invitational on Friday afternoon as they dropped a 3-0 decision to East Tennessee State 25-20, 25-20, 25-16 at the Vines Center.
Ravyn Richardson set a career-high for kills with nine, while
Kyndall Nicholas had seven kills and an attack percentage of nearly .400.Â
Brianna Lilly had 28 assists.
ETSU opened the first set on a run jumping out to a 7-2 lead before the Lady Pirates scored nine of the next 13 to tie the match at 11-all on a kill from Lilly. Hampton pulled to within a point on four more occasions, but the Buccaneers scored seven of the last 10 points to take the first set 25-20.
In the second, Hampton jumped out to a 5-1 lead before the Buccaneers reeled off 11 of the next 15 points to take a 12-9 lead on a kill by Kaela Massey.Â
Hampton will take on Liberty (12:30 pm) and USC Upstate (4:30 pm) to close out the Liberty Invitational on Saturday. The match with Liberty will be broadcasted on
