BALTIMORE, Md. – Behind three double figure kill performances from
Reeana Richardson,
Victoria Jenifer and
Lena Washington, Hampton rebounded from a otugh Friday loss to defeat Coppin State 25-21, 25-21, 25-13 on Sunday afternoon.
Richardson had a game-high 13 kills with a .524 attack percentage in the match and eight digs. Jenifer added 12 kills, two digs and had a .429 attack percentage. Washington had a double-double of 11 kills and 11 digs.
Hampton (10-15, 5-4) trailed 17-16 in the opening set before running off six of the next eight points to lead 22-19 on a Coppin State service error as they held on for a 25-21 first set win.
In the second set, Hampton jumped out to a 21-11 lead on a kill by Washington, but the Eagles clawed back into the match trailing 24-21 though a Richardson kill gave Hampton the second set also at 25-21.
The Lady Pirates took control in the third set on an 11-4 run to lead 16-9 after a Richardson kill as they cruised to a 25-13 third set win.
Hampton returns home for its final three matches starting with Howard on November 5 at 3 pm.
