CARY, NC -Â Hampton University placed five runners inside the top 15 on Saturday as the Lady Pirates captured the HBCU Challenge for the second year in a row scoring 23 points in the championship meet held on Saturday.
Eusila Chepkemei covered the 5k course at WakeMed Soccer Park in 17:27.3 to win the race.Â
Faith Keitany was second in 17:42.6 and Janet Okeago was third in 17:50.5 to lead Hampton.
Pollyanna Velasco was in eighth in 19:42.2 while
Asia Johnson rounded out the point scorers for Hamptoin in 13
th place in 20:42.1. Rounding out Hampton's participants was Devonya Brown in 22
nd place with a time of 21:46.0
The Lady Pirates scored 23 points to win the race as North Carolina A&T was second with 42 points, Fayetteville State was third with 93 to round out the top three in the 14-team race.
Hampton returns to action on October 13 in Dover, Delawarer at the Delaware State alumni run.
