The Hampton men's indoor track and field team participated in two meets this weekend at the VMI Keydet Invitational and the Captains Invitational/Combined Events at Christopher Newport. They took fourth at VMI and took home three first place finishes at CNU.
Sophomore
Jaelen Williams had a good weekend at VMI where he won the 400 meters (47.56), took second in the 500 (1:04.30) and ran anchor on the winning 4x400 meter relay team in 3:14.56.
Justin Beatty also placed in three events finishing third in the 500 (1:04.76), fourth in the 400 (49.08) and ran the second leg in the 4x400 meter relay team that took second.
Stanley Davis took second in the 800 (1:54.84) and ran leadoff on the distance medley relay team that took second in 10:25.25.Â
Emmanuel Too took fourth in the 5000 (15:35.33) and ninth in the mile in 4:22.12.
The Pirates took fourth at VMI with 67 points, to only trail East Carolina (73), Charlotte (85.5) and N.C. State (112.5).
At Christopher Newport,
Joshua Hunter took first in the shot put (47-11.75) and third in the weight throw (44-1.5) to lead the Pirates.Â
Charles Graham won the 60 hurdles in 8.03 and
Jerrick Powell headed a 1-2-4 finish in the heptathlon with 4,850 points.
Hampton returns to action next weekend with the first of two straight trips to Liberty University for the Liberty Kickoff on Jan. 26-27.
