LYNCHBURG, Va. -- The women's indoor track team participated in the Liberty Kickoff this weekend and came away with six ECAC qualifying times in the strong meet.
In the jumps, Leonard won the event with a leap of 19-7 to qualify for the ECAC, while
Jayme Thomas was second in the triple jump in a qualifying mark of 39-0.25.
Meshala Morton came away with a third place finish for the Lady Pirates in the 60-meter dash in 7.62 to qualify for the ECAC meet in March.
Mallory Pitchford joined her in the top five taking fifth in a qualifying time of 7.65.
Eusila Chepkirui took third in the 5000 meters in 18:10.68 to lead the distance runners.
Janet Okeago took ninth in the mile in 5:10:70.
Pitchford took sixth in the 60 hurdles in an ECAC qualifying time of 8.83, while the 4x400 relay team of
Jaelen Leonard,
Meshala Morton,
Autumn Smith,
Sashana Hinds ran 3:48.27 to finish fourth and earn a ECAC bid.
Hampton returns to Liberty next weekend for the Darius Dixon Memorial and will also run in the Harvard Crimson Elite in Boston.
