HAMPTON, Va. – A 14-1 start of the second quarter helped propel Hampton to a 60-42 win over South Carolina State in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference matchup Saturday afternoon.
After a sluggish first quarter that saw SCSU score the last four points to make it a 12-9 Hampton lead after one, the Lady Pirates went on a 14-1 run over the first nearly seven minutes of the second to lead 26-12 on a triple by

The 12-point halftime margin was as close as SCSU got in the second half. A
K'lynn Willis jumper with 5:49 left gave Hampton its largest lead of the second half at 53-31.
Jephany Brown was the leading scorer with 17 points and eight rebounds, while
Monnazjea Finney-Smith added 15 points and seven boards and Bates had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds with four assists and five steals.
