NORFOLK, Va. – Hampton tennis teams took on Howard in the Battle of the Real HU on the tennis courts at Old Dominion University Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center on Saturday night and Hampton won both matches.  The women won 4-0, while the men won 4-1.
Howard took the doubles point in the men's match as 
Charles Hudson and 
Davy Van Geerke won at line three 6-1 for Hampton.   In singles, Hampton won at lines one, two, three and six to take the match.  Van Geerke won the clinching match at line two with a 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 win over Cole Gittens as Hampton won its first match of the season.
In the women's match, Hampton won at line one doubles as 
Mariam Mitaishvili and 
Yulia Kapitanova scored a 7-5 win over Nicole Hutchinson and Kindha Nasef.  A forfeit at line three gave Hampton the second doubles win to take the team point.
In singles, Hampton won at the top two singles spots with Mitaishvili winning 6-4 6-2 at line one and Kapitanova 6-1, 6-0 at line two.  A forfeit win at line six for 
Ciara Walker put Hampton ahead 4-0 for the clincher.
