COLUMBIA, SC – The Hampton University track teams competed in the Weems Baskins Invitational hosted by the University of South Carolina and came away with four first-place finishes.
Eusila Chepkemei took the 1500-meter title with a 4:40.07 to edge out teammate
Janet Okeago who ran a 4:43.13.
Jayme Thomas captured first place in the triple jump with a leap of 39-1.25
On the men's side, freshman Wesley Kirui won the 3000 meters in 8:24.89 and took third in the 1500 invitational race in 3:55.87. Â
Emmanuel Too took third in the 3000 (8:28.89) and in the open 1500 (3:58.53).

Tayvon Burris, Too and
Stanley Davis took top honors in 7:43.58. In the field events,
Isaac Arriola took second in the triple jump in 47-4.25.
Hampton will next compete in the Florida Relays next weekend in Gainesville, Fla.
