NORFOLK, Va. – The Hampton University women's tennis team blanked Norfolk State in the Battle of the Bay winning 7-0 at Norfolk State Thursday.
 
Hampton (6-6/4-0 MEAC) would take the only doubles match to finish which clinched the team point as Yulia Kapitannova and Kiah Turner defeated Dajana Cvjetkovic and Paula Fortuno 7-5 at line one. Ana Romanova and Haley Mullins had won by default at line three.
 
In singles play, Hampton would win five of the six singles matches in straight sets.  Kapitanova would drop the first set to Cvjetkovic, but rally to win the match 5-7, 6-4, 7-5 at line one. Turner would win at line two against Fortuno 6-3, 6-3. At line three, Slocombe would sweep Popovic 6-0, 6-4 to win the match. Mullins took line four against Bruna Goncalves 6-4, 6-4. Romanova and Julia d'Auvergne took their matches at lines five and six by identical 6-0, 6-0 scores.
 
Hampton returns action on Saturday facing Radford at 12pm in Radford, Virginia before hosting Coppin State on Sunday.
