EMMITTSBURG, Md. – The Hampton men's tennis team started a three match week on Tuesday by blanking Mount St, Mary's 4-0 on the road.
Hampton (3-12) took two of the three doubles matches to earn the team point.
Fedor Shirin and
Fernando Fernandes got the first win at line three with a 6-1 victory.
Matthew Foster-Estwick and
Davy Van Geerke clinched the team point for Hampton with a 6-3 win.
The Pirates won three singles matches in straight sets at three, five and six to get the dual match win.
Charles Hudson won at line five 6-1, 6-0 for a 2-0 lead. Van Geerke took a 6-2, 6-2 win at line for to put Hampton up 3-0 and Shirin won 7-5, 6-2 at line six for the clinching point in the 4-0 win.
The men now visit the University of Delaware for a 2pm match on Wednesday.
