HAMPTON, Va. – Alana VanDenburg was 3-for-6 in two games with a pair of RBIs as Hampton swept a doubleheader from North Carolina Central 5-1 and 2-0 on Wednesday afternoon.
In game one, Hampton got on the board with three runs in the bottom of the third.Â
Daniella Milloy singled to start and was pinch-ran for by
Brianna Anderson. She stole second and went to third on a sacrifice bunt by
Lorena Alvarez.Â
DaSha Hill drove in Anderson with a bunt single. Hill stole second and scored on a single by VanDenburg. After stealing second and advancing to third on a ground out, VanDenburg scored on a wild pitch for a 3-0 lead.
The Eagles scratched an unearned run in the fourth, but Hampton responded with two in the sixth. After one out,
Kial Watts doubled to left center.Â
Morgan Crawford followed with a single before
Sarah Kollas drove in pinch-runner
Camille King with a single to center. Crawford followed with a steal of home for the 5-1 lead.
Allyson Babinsack earned the win in game one throwing all seven innings and allowing three hits with three strikeouts.
Game two saw Hampton score twice in the fourth as
Taylor Warrick started with a triple to left center and scored on a VanDenburg triple to left center. A sacrifice bunt by Crawford scored VanDenburg for a 2-0 Hampton lead.
Allie Hotetz earned the win throwing all seven innings with three strikeouts and allowing five hits.
Hampton (17-19) now goes to Baltimore for a key three-game series with Coppin State starting on Saturday at 1 pm.
