PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Hampton track and field teams finished competition at the prestigious Penn Relays on Saturday and came away with two first place finishes in relays at Franklin Field.
The men's 4x400 relay team came away with a first place in the College Final as they ran 3:09.9. Brenan Garrett,
Justin Beatty,
Jerrick Powell and
Jaelen Williams ran in that final with Powell covering his leg in 47.41 and Williams in 46.68.
The 4x800 also won their College Final in 7:27.40.Â
Stanley Davis (1:50.24),
Wesley Kirui (1:52.94),
Emmanuel Too (1:52.35) and
Geoffrey McCullough (1:51.88) combined for the season best time of 7:27.40
The men's 4x100 took fourth in the Eastern Final running a 41.40 behind the grouping of Charles Grahan, Joshua Harris,
Jerrick Powell and Garrett.
The women's 4x200 took third in the Eastern Final in 1:35.88 behind
Meshala Morton, Asha Copeland,
Mallory Pitchford and
Sashana Hinds.
Late Friday, Hampton women took fifth place in the Championship of Americas Shuttle Hurdles relay running 56.59.
A couple women participated in the Virginia Grand Prix in Charlottesville and came away with two top 10 finishes.Â
Janet Okeago took second in the 5000 meters running 17:31.47, while Eusila Chepkemei took ninth in the 800 meters in 2:12.84.
Both track teams will compete next weekend in the MEAC Championships in Greensboro, N.C.
