The Hampton University track and field teams competed this weekend in a pair of meets at the University of South Carolina Gamecock Invitational and the Colonial Relays hosted by William & Mary.

Gamecock Invitational
The women's 4x100 relay team highlighted the performances in Columbia, SC with a first place finish in 46.00. The group of
Meshala Morton, Asha Copeland,
Sashana Hinds and
Mallory Pitchford ran a season best time and are ranked fourth in the MEAC.
Jaelen Leonard took second in the long jump with a leap of 19 feet, while
Kayla Key finished fifth in 18-6.5. Leonard's leap is currently fourth best in the MEAC, while Key is ninth.
Geoffrey McCullough was second in the 1500 meters in 3:56.07 which is the third fastest in the MEAC this year and only .11 off the top time.
Charles Graham (14.36) and
Jaelen Williams (14.51) ran the fourth and sixth fastest times in the 110 hurdles in the MEAC at this race.
Stanley Davis was third in the 400 hurdles in 52.77 to also lead on the track for the men.

Colonial Relays
Some of the team went to William & Mary for the annual Colonial Relays.
Leading that contingent was freshman
Wesley Kirui who took second in the 5000 meters in 14:25.19. Â Â His time is now the fastest in the MEAC by almost 32 seconds.
In the women's side,
Janet Okeago took seventh in the 5000 in 17:20.30 for the top track finisher.Â
The field events for the women saw Tamadj Fisher take seventh in the high jump (5-3) and
Kyra Hayes finish seventh in the javelin (106-3).

Both teams are off until April 20 when they head to Princeton, NJ for the Larry Ellis Invitational at Princeton University.
