BLACKSBURG, Va. – Homestanding Virginia Tech used four home runs en route to an 11-0 win over Hampton on Wednesday night in the non-conference finale for the Lady Pirates.
The Hokies scored their 11 runs in the first four innings and held Hampton to three hits. Singles by
Taylor Warrick in the first,
Alana VanDenburg in the fourth and
Quierra Bradford in the fifth.
Emma Strouth and Carrie Eberle drove in a pair of runs each for Virginia Tech who scored four in the first, three in the second and two in the third and fourth innings.
Hampton (20-25) now visits Delaware State on Friday to start a key three-game Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference series. As long as Hampton gets one win in Dover this weekend they'll qualify for the 2018 MEAC Championships in Ormond Beach, Fla. Starting on May 9.
