DOVER, Del. – The Hampton University bowling team, with a 5-5 record over the weekend, finished in a tie for third with Morgan State over the weekend at the second Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) North tournament of the season, hosted Saturday and Sunday by Delaware State University.
The Lady Pirates were fourth in the standings in terms of total pinfall, rolling 3,983 pins. Delaware State led the way with 4,663 total pins and an overall weekend record of 10-0.
The Lady Pirates went 3-2 in Friday's 5-person total pinfall action. After opening with a 769-878 loss to defending MEAC champion Delaware State, Hampton beat Morgan State 862-823 and Howard 743-671. Maryland-Eastern Shore then beat Hampton 921-795, before Hampton closed out Friday's action with a 814-721 win over Coppin State.
Freshman
Rebecca Glazier (Newport News, Va.) led the Lady Pirates with 838 total pins on Friday, including a team-best game of 196 against Maryland-Eastern Shore. Glazier rolled four of five games over 150, including back-to-back 173s against Morgan State and Howard.
Dara Martin (Oswego, Ill.) had 791 total pins on Friday, bowling a personal best 182 against Coppin State. Though she only bowled two games on Friday,
Jamie Zarnick (West Bloomfield, Mich.) averaged a 184.5, bowling a 188 against Morgan State and a 181 against Delaware State.
Jazzminn Richey-Obey (Lorain, Ohio) had 768 total pins on Friday, including a high game of 185 against Morgan State.
Hampton finished Saturday's baker match play action 2-3, falling to Morgan State (1-4), Delaware State (0-4) and Maryland-Eastern Shore (1-4), before beating Coppin State 4-3 and Howard 4-2.
The Lady Pirates (22-21, 10-10 MEAC) will return to action Friday through Sunday, when they travel to Millsboro, Del. for the Eastern Shore Hawk Classic.
