HAMPTON, Va. – The Hampton University tennis teams wrapped up conference play over the weekend, winning The Hampton men's team beat Howard 5-2. The women's team also had the great day against Howard, winning 4-3.
Friday was only the third time this season the teams were able to play outside do to the weather this year with lots of bad weather this season.
“On Friday, we had to prove who was the real HU, because that is a big rivalry here and we want to make sure that we uphold our end of that,” said Marcelo Reda.
On Saturday, the team traveled to Baltimore, Md. to face Coppin State and they had much success. The women beat Coppin State 6-0, while the men's team won 5-1, only dropping one singles match.
The Pirates and Lady Pirates closed out the regular season on Sunday with a home win over Morgan State. The teams were able to win, both shutting out the Bears 7-0.
The Pirates and Lady Pirates were able to finish the season in the top spot in the MEAC North. Hampton will be getting ready for the MEAC Championships, which are set for April17-19 in Greensboro, N.C.
