COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The Hampton University bowling team opened Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) play on Saturday and Sunday, competing in the first MEAC Northern Division meet of the season hosted by Howard.
The Lady Pirates went 4-6 on the weekend, which included a 2-3 mark in both Saturday's match play and Sunday's Baker action.
On Saturday, the Lady Pirates opened match play with an 884-970 loss to Maryland Eastern Shore and a 793-1,036 loss to Delaware State. From there, Hampton beat Howard 854-765, before falling 864-897 to Morgan State.
The Lady Pirates beat Coppin State 793-752 to close out Saturday's action.
Sophomore
Rebecca Glazier (Newport News, Va.) led the Lady Pirates with 981 total pins on Saturday, averaging 196.2 pins per match. She bowled over 200 twice, including a season-best 221 against Coppin State and a 213 against Maryland Eastern Shore.
Senior
Jazzminn Richey-Obey (Lorain, Ohio) was second on the team with 784 total pins, despite only bowling in four of the matches. She averaged 196.0 pins per match, and she bowled a 215 against Morgan State and a 210 against UMES.
Amy Chirico had Hampton's only other score in the 200s, rolling a 202 against UMES.
Hampton fell 690-742 to Delaware State and 635-773 to Maryland Eastern Shore to open Sunday's Baker action, before bouncing back with wins over Morgan State (800-754) and Coppin State (763-477).
Howard beat Hampton 781-759 in the final match of the day.
The Lady Pirates (19-24, 4-6 MEAC) will return to action on Dec. 4-5, when they head to Baltimore, Md. for the second MEAC North meet of the season, hosted by Morgan State.
