BOWLING COMPETES IN FDU NEW JERSEY JAMBOREE

HOWELL, N.J. – The Hampton University bowling team competed in the New Jersey Jamboree hosted by Fairleigh Dickinson University on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, going a combined 2-11.

The Lady Pirates are now 15-18 on the season.

Hampton went 1-4 in Friday's Baker total pinfall play, opening with a 734-810 loss to Kutztown and a 597-623 loss to Sacred Heart, before beating St. Francis (Pa.) 619-608. The Lady Pirates then lost 737-762 to Long Island and 756-779 to New Jersey City.

The Lady Pirates lost all five matches in Saturday's 5-person match total pinfall action, opening with an 872-913 loss to Morgan State and an 818-901 loss to Adelphi. Hampton then fell 889-987 to tournament host Fairleigh-Dickinson, before falling 795-907 to Monmouth and 830-890 to St. Francis (N.Y.).

Senior Jazzminn Richey-Obey (Lorain, Ohio) led the Lady Pirates with 881 total pins on Saturday, averaging 176.2 per match to rank 56th in the individual standings. She bowled a weekend-best 195 against Fairleigh-Dickinson, while adding a 184 against St. Francis (N.Y.) and a 180 against Adelphi.

Sophomore Rebecca Glazier (Newport News, Va.) totaled 876 pins on Saturday, averaging 175.2 per match, with a team-best and season-high 215 against Morgan State. She also bowled a 170 against FDU and 166 each against Adelphi and Monmouth.

Ebonie Barnett had Hampton's only other total over 200, bowling a 203 against FDU.

Sunday's Baker match play action saw Hampton go 1-2, falling 2-4 to Monmouth and 3-4 to Bethune-Cookman before beating Howard 4-1.

Between 5-person team and Baker totals, the Lady Pirates totaled 7,647 pins for the weekend, ranking 15th among the 18 teams competing. Hampton had 4,204 pins in 5-person team match play, averaging 840.8 pins per match.
