COLUMBIA, Md. – The Hampton University bowling team had a strong showing on Saturday and Sunday, going a combined 7-3 in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) North Meet hosted by Morgan State.
The Lady Pirates (26-27, 11-9 MEAC) opened play on Saturday with a 4-1 mark in 5-person team match play, before going 3-2 on Sunday in Baker total pinfall action.
Hampton opened Saturday's action with an 840-831 win over Maryland Eastern Shore, before falling 846-1,005 to Delaware State. The Lady Pirates then won three straight matches, beating Howard 892-797, Morgan State 958-875 and Coppin State 880-658.
Sophomore
Rebecca Glazier (Newport News, Va.) had 1,022 total pins on Saturday, averaging 204.4 pins per match. She bowled a team-best 245 against Morgan State, after rolling a 222 against Howard. Glazier also bowled a 190 against both UMES and Delaware State.
Pamela Kettler bowled an 832 over five matches on Saturday, including a 180 against Howard. She averaged 166.4 pins per match.
Senior
Jazzminn Richey-Obey (Lorain, Ohio) had 715 total pins over four matches, bowling a 210 against Morgan State. She averaged 178.8 pins per match.
Hampton opened Sunday's Baker play with a 691-675 win over Delaware State, before losing 683-779 to UMES and 651-731 to Morgan State. The Lady Pirates then beat Coppin State 674-558 and Howard 676-581.
The Lady Pirates will return to action after the New Year, when they head to Laurel, Md. on Jan. 22-23 for the Lady Bulldog Classic hosted by Bowie State University.
