ELMWOOD PARK, N.J. – The Hampton University bowling team won three matches this past Saturday and Sunday at the 2011 ECAC Invitational.
The Lady Pirates went 3-6 over the weekend, finishing 10th in the team standings.
Hampton opened play on Saturday by going 3-3 in 5-person team match play. The Lady Pirates opened with a 966-931 win over St. Peter's (N.J.), before beating St. Francis (N.Y.) 987-873 and St. Francis (Pa.) 923-852.
The Lady Pirates then lost 1,013-1,076 to New Jersey City, 853-1,112 to tournament champion Fairleigh-Dickinson and 887-910 to Monmouth.
Freshman
Nicole Kettler (Cincinnati, Ohio) led the Lady Pirates with 1,241 total pins on Saturday, averaging 206.8 pins. She topped the 200-pin mark in four of her six matches, rolling a 224 against St. Francis (Pa.) and a 222 against St. Peter's.
She also bowled a 217 against Monmouth and a 212 against New Jersey City.
Senior
Jazzminn Richey-Obey (Lorain, Ohio) totaled 1,153 pins on Saturday, averaging 192.2 per match. She rolled a 216 against St. Peter's, a 213 against New Jersey City and a 202 against St. Francis (N.Y.).
Sophomore
Rebecca Glazier (Newport News, Va.) had 1,115 pins on Saturday, averaging 185.8 per match. She bowled a team-best 225 against St. Francis (N.Y.) and a 216 against New Jersey City.
The Lady Pirates went 0-3 in Sunday's Baker match play. After falling 1-4 to St. Francis (N.Y.), Hampton lost 1-4 to Adelphi and 2-4 to Monmouth.
The Lady Pirates (53-56, 11-9 MEAC) will close out the regular season on Saturday and Sunday, when they head to Millsboro, Del. for the third MEAC North meet of the season – this one hosted by Maryland Eastern Shore.
