PIRATES TO PLAY FLORIDA A&M AND BETHUNE-COOKMAN ON ESPNU

Hampton, Va. – Hampton's home football game against Florida A&M has been rescheduled for Thursday, Sept. 8 at 7:30 p.m. and the road game against Bethune-Cookman has been rescheduled for Thursday, Sept. 22 at 7:30 p.m. to accommodate a live ESPNU broadcast.

The FAMU game was originally slated for Saturday, Sept. 10 while the B-CU game was scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 24.

The Pirates have lost two of their last three meetings in the series, with FAMU winning 17-12 last season en route to a share of the MEAC regular-season football title. The Pirates have won the last two meetings at Armstrong Stadium.

This will be the Pirates first home game on a Thursday night since a Sept. 20, 2007 matchup against Morgan State.

“We are very happy with the opportunity to be playing on ESPNU,” said Pirates Head Coach Donovan Rose. “It is not every day that teams in the MEAC get a chance to play on national television but we are excited about the chance to not only show off our football team but also Hampton University.”

The Pirates will open up the 2011 season on Sept. 3 in Chicago, IL against the Bulldogs of Alabama A&M University at the Chicago Football Classic, which will be played at Soldier Field.
