SCHWARTZ NAMED FIRST TEAM VaSID ALL-STATE

HARRISONBURG, Va. – Hampton University senior running back Jeremiah Schwartz was named First Team All-State by the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID), in the teams and awards that were announced on Monday.

Schwartz (Orlando, Fla.) became the first Pirate to rush for 1,000 yards in a season since 2009, carrying the ball 196 times for 1,043 yards and 11 touchdowns this past season. He averaged 115.9 yards on the ground to lead the MEAC, and he averaged 5.3 yards per carry.

A First Team All-MEAC selection, Schwartz had seven straight 100-yard rushing games to close out the season – including a career-high 201 yards against Bethune-Cookman on Sept. 21. That's the 11th-highest single-game rushing total in program history.

He also had 18 receptions for 82 yards on the season.

Schwartz was the only Pirate named to the VaSID First or Second Team in the University Division – comprising Div. I FBS and FCS programs in the commonwealth.
