DURHAM, NC – The Pirates Tennis team finished their regular season with a 5-1 loss to North Carolina Central down in Durham, North Carolina on Tuesday evening.
The Pirates (5-9) as a team did not gain the doubles point.
Park Wan-Young (Daeduk-Gu, Daejeon) and
Advait Kirtane retired their match 4-2 due to an injury. Central picked up the point with a win by George and Charles over
Kenneth Greene (Philadelphia, PA) and
Lakshmana Satchithananthan (Toronto, Ontario).
In singles action, the Pirates
Alvin Fludd (Suitland, MD) lost to Daniil Gerasimov 6-2 6-2 in the no.1 position.
Park Wan-Young picked up the Pirates first and only point for the pirates defeating his opponent Thomas Persico 7-5 6-0.
Jose Fabara defeated Lakshmana 6-4 6-2, while George Fabrice closed out the match for the Eagles defeating
Joshua McQueen (Miramar, Fl) 6-3 6-1.
The Pirates await the seed pairings for the upcoming 2013 MEAC Tennis Championships, which will take place in Raleigh, North Carolina at the Millbrook Tennis Center. The Championships are on the dates of April 18-21, 2013.
