BLISTERING SECOND HALF SINKS PIRATES IN VEGAS FINAL

LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- Behind a 68% field goal performance in the second half lifted Rider on Friday night to a 94-80 win over Hampton in the finals of the Upper Division of the Continental Tires Las Vegas Invitational at the Orleans Arena.
Jermaine Marrow paced four in double figures for Hampton with 19 points and seven assists. Greg Heckstall scored 10 of his 18 in the second half, Kalin Fisher had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Charles Wilson-Fisher had 12 points and seven rebounds.
After leading 42-41 at the half, Hampton saw the Broncs open the second half on a 10-0 run to lead 51-42 at the 17:03 mark. Hampton trimmed the deficit to 64-61 on the strength of a 6-0 spurt capped by a Marrow layup with 10:35 left. Rider scored 10 of the next 12 points to push the lead back to 11 on a Tyere Marshall layup with 6:45 left for a 74-63 advantage.
Marrow was recognized on the All-Tournament team at the conclusion of the game.
Hampton now returns home for a pair of games next week starting on Monday night with a 7pm matchup against Saint Leo University in the HU Convocation Center.
