LAS VEGAS, Nv. – Former Hampton and NBA standout Rick Mahorn added some hardware to his impressive collection on Saturday as he coached Trilogy to a 51-46 win over 3 Headed Monsters for the inaugural Big3 league title.
The league was in its first season with former NBA players and his Trilogy team completed a perfect 10-0 season.  His Trilogy team was headed in the title game by Rashad McCants who scored the last five points of the game as they captured the crown. He was named Coach of the Year in the league.
Mahorn averaged 20.3 points and 12.3 rebounds per game at then Hampton Institute from 1976-80 and finished his Pirate career holding nearly 20 school records. He finished with school records of 2,418 points and 1,465 rebounds in his career.
Playing with a variety of teams in his 18-year NBA career, Mahorn was a proud member of "The Bad Boys" with the Detroit Pistons where he won his only NBA crown in 1989.
