GREENVILLE, N.C. -- The Hampton University women's cross country team finished sixth in the nine-team field at the ECU Pirates XC Invitational on Friday.
Elon won the 6K race with 40 points. East Carolina and Norfolk State took second and third place with 50 and 67 points, respectively. Norfolk State's Martha Bissah won the individual crown with a time of 20:51.7.
Asia Johnson was the first Lady Pirate to break the tape, posting a time of 24:00.5 for 36th place. Zuri Rashad claimed 46th place with a 24:46.3 time. Shakeria Johnson and DeVonya Brown managed to keep pace with each other to earn points for HU. Johnson earned 54th place with a time of 26:08.1 while Brown claimed 57th with a 26:24.6 mark. Tea Foster posted a time of 26:38.4, followed by Gabrielle Chenault's 30:56.5 to round out the Lady Pirate competitors.
