Hampton director of athletics Anthony Henderson threw out the ceremonial first pitch at the April 20 Erie Seawolves game against the Richmond Flying Squirrels at The Diamond in Richmond.
The Flying Squirrels hosted HBCU Night with representatives, fans, alumni and students from local HBCU institutions in attendance.
Members of the Richmond Chapter if the National Hampton Alumni Association were on hand for the game and related festivities. In all, more than 7,000 fans attended the game. Fans were treated to a fireworks display inside the fences.
The Flying Squirrels boast a player from the HBCU ranks. Outfielder Carter Williams is a graduate of North Carolina Central and was a four-time All-MEAC pick before joining the San Francisco Giants organization.
The Flying Squirrels defeated the Seawolves 10-7.
