The Hampton men's and women's track & field teams will be in action on May 5-6 (Friday and Saturday) participating in the 2023 Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The championships will be staged at Zable Stadium on the campus of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Va. beginning at 9:30 a.m.

The meet will feature the largest field in CAA history with 12-teams participating on the women's side and another eight teams on the men's side. Elon, which earlier this year won both the cross country and indoor track & field women's titles, enters as the championship favorite. Hampton, which finished second in the women's indoor track & field championships, are led by junior
Dejah Grant (Springdale, Md.), who has the fastest time in the 400-meter hurdles with a clocking of 57.87.

On the men's side, Northeastern has won the last seven men's outdoor track & field titles. The Pirates finished a competitive fifth place in the indoor championships. Hampton junior Otis Slayton (South Boston, Va.) won the long jump at the CAA indoor track & field championships in February. The senior had a jump of 7.11-meters, 23-04.00.
