HAMPTON, Va. (Nov. 9, 2024) … The Lady Pirates began its final home series of the 2024 campaign with a 3-0 loss to Delaware. Both sides struggled to create separation in the first set, but the Blue Hens pulled away late. With the momentum gained from the first frame, Delaware took the next two frames.

Before either team could record 10 points there was a total of five ties. The Blue Hens started to create separation after the 9-9 mark. Delaware took the next six consecutive points to gain the lead. A kill by Madison Clark stopped the Blue Hens run. The Hampton, Va. native, finished the match with a team-high six kills. Throughout the stanza, Brooklyn Patterson and Cortni Adams helped the Lady Pirates shrink the Delaware's advantage. The Blue Hens took the set 25-16.

Delaware got off to a quick start in the second frame jumping out a 7-3 lead. However, the Lady Pirates were able to answer with a stretch of their own cutting the advantage down to three. With the Blue Hens committing errors, Hampton was able to keep the set close. However, an 8-1 run by Delaware made it 24-14. The blue Hens took advantage of the errors made by the Lady Pirates. Morgan Warren would tally a kill late but a service error ended the set with Delaware taking it 25-15.

The Blue Hens once again got off to a hot start taking a commanding 10-2 lead. While Hampton stopped Delaware's dominant stretch with Lamb and Clark producing kills. With the stanza at 21-7, the Blue Hens closed the stanza on a 4-1 run.

Hampton returns to action at Holland Hall tomorrow hosting the Delaware Blue Hens for senior day. Sunday's match is set to begin at 1:00 p.m. and will be streamed on FloSports.
