HAMPTON, Va. (August 29, 2024) – Hampton's volleyball team will kickoff the 2024 season at the Buffalo Invitational at the University of Buffalo in Buffalo, N.Y.
The tournament will feature four teams, including Hampton, Army, Oakland, and the host school Buffalo. The Lady Pirates will compete in three matches.
All matches will take place at the Alumni Arena and will be streamed on the YouTube links above. There is a different YouTube link for each day.

The team returns six players from last year's roster, including
Cortni Adams,
Ada Bulgur,
Madison Clark,
Rhisen Davis,
Kylah Hunter, and
Shachia Lamb.
Last season, Clark led the Lady Pirates with 99 kills. Hunter returns as the defensive leader with the most digs last season at 178. Davis posted the most receptions on the team with 390.
Eight new freshmen join the team along with one transfer sophomore.
Scouting Army
Alma Kovaci Lee is coaching the Black Knights in her 18
th year with the program. Last season, the team finished with a 14-12 record including an 11-5 record in the Patriot League and a semifinal run in the Patriot League tournament. Eleven freshmen join the team as the Black Knights look to replace their leading players in kills, assists, aces, digs, and blocks from last season.
Scouting Buffalo
The Bulls are coached by Scott Smith in his sixth season at Buffalo. In the 2023 season, the team posted their best season ever in Division I at 23-9. The Bulls won their first Mid-American Conference East division title (13-5 MAC record) and competed in the NIVC postseason tournament.
Returning players for the Bulls this season are highlighted by last year's leaders in kills, Katrin Trebichavska (403), assists, Mandy Leigh (1237), digs, Maria Futey (437), and blocks, Abby Leigh (108).
Scouting Oakland
The Golden Grizzlies are led by head coach Krista Rice in her third season with the program. The team finished the 2023 season with a 17-14 overall record, 11-7 in the Horizon League.
Golden Grizzlies returners are led by Emily Wichmann and Ainsley Guse, who led the team in digs (659) and blocks (97).
