HAMPTON, Va. (September 13, 2024) – The Lady Pirates volleyball team is ready to compete at the Henson Hawk Invitational this weekend in Princess Anne, Md. They will compete in three matches at the Hytche Center over the course of Saturday and Sunday at Maryland Eastern Shore.

On Tuesday, Hampton fell to the George Washington Revolutionaries 3-0.
So far this season,
Ada Bulgur leads Hampton in kills with 32, followed by
Cortni Adams with 28. Warren has taken care of the majority of the setting, recording 94 assists.
Dila Derendeli and
Maria Clara De Andrade each have four aces.
On the defensive side of the net, Hunter has notched 67 digs. Adams has earned 11 total blocks, six of them solo.
Scouting UNC Asheville (2-2)
Danielle Marante is leading the Bulldogs in her first season with the program. The Bulldogs are currently on a two-match win streak over Morgan State and Western Carolina. UNC Asheville fell against West Georgia and Georgia State earlier this season.
Kylie Cakovic leads the Bulldogs in kills with 55. Payton Rolfsen is the primary setter, providing 88 assists. Michelle Thao holds the most digs (75) and Lydia Pate blocks (14).
The Bulldogs hold a 6-2 advantage in the all-time series.
Scouting Iona (0-6)
The Gaels are coached by Andy Mueller in his third season as the head coach. The team has started the season 0-6.
Kenzie Wiggins has earned 52 kills for the Gaels this season. Jaylyn Simon has 71 assists. Defensively, Ava DeGuzman has posted 66 digs and Taylor Timko 14 blocks.
Iona and Hampton have never played each other in volleyball.
Scouting Maryland Eastern Shore (2-3)
UMES is led by Vanessa Faircloth in her second season with the program. The team has two wins over Mercyhurst and losses against Mercer, Georgia Southern, and Clemson.
Nkemjika Ikemefuna has notched 47 kills and teammate Anisa Dorlouise has 82 assists. On the defensive side, Valeria Matias is leading the Hawks in digs (73) while Anjola Omolewa has 11 blocks.
UMES holds a 30-22 overall record over the Pirates.
