
Track and Field Teams With Pair Of First Place Finishes At Penn Classic

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (Feb. 9, 2025) … The Hampton University men's and women's indoor track and field teams headed to the Penn Classic this weekend and came away 14 top five finishes and a pair of individual wins.
Freshman Marquis White won the long jump with a personal best of 7.19 meters (23-7.25). That leap gave him the fourth best mark in the CAA this season.
Fellow freshman Joseph Ernest took home top honors in the triple jump with a leap of 14.85meters (48-8.75) which puts him third in the CAA.
Kenidi Johnson was second in the women's 60 meters in 7.73, while Rochele Solmon continued a solid stretch with a toss of 14.59 meters (47-10.5) to take third in the shot put to lead the women's side.
Hampton now will participate in a pair of meets next weekend as they'll head to Boston for the David Hemery Valentine Invite and will run in Virginia Beach at the Pre-National Invite hosted by Norfolk State.
