Hampton Sailing Begins 2025 Spring Season With Win at Tom Noble Team Race

CHESTERFIELD, Md. (March 2, 2025) … Coach Alessandro Ambrosi's side began the 2025 Spring season on a high note. The Pirates finished first at the Tom Noble Team Race. This afternoon marked the first time the program has won a team race.

The field consisted of Delaware, Drexel, King's Point New York Maritime, Penn State, Virginia Tech, and Washington College (Md.). Hampton won every team race in a 1-2 combo except against the Nittany Lions. The Pirates had two of their boats doing penalty spins on the line. As the squad converted into a 2-3-4 formation, HU's boat fouled again putting the side in a losing combo. Hampton was able to secure a victory over Penn State when the Nittany Lions committed a foul of their own.

The Pirate's impressive 7-0 record at the Tom Noble Team Race was also the first time Hampton had gone undefeated at a team race. Results from this weekend's race can be found in the link below.

Hampton sailing returns to action at the Hanbury Trophy hosted by Christopher Newport. The Hanbury Trophy is slated to begin on March 22 and conclude on March 23.
