Pirates Finish Second at Hanbury Trophy

HAMPTON, Va. (March 22, 2025) … Hampton University sailing resumed the spring portion of the 2025 schedule at the Hanbury Trophy hosted by Christopher Newport. The Pirates placed second at the regatta and finished only 12 points behind the Captains. Winds were steady with an average of 15 knots with the occasional gust reaching 25 miles per hour.

All nine races were able to be completed this afternoon. Hampton A team consisted of Tyler Brown and Chole Anderson. The duo won a total of two races and had five top-three finishes. Out of the entire field, Brown and Anderson finished third only behind Christopher Newport's A and B teams.

The B unit consisted of Stefano Palamara and Tommaso Ciaglia. Palamara and Ciaglia won a total of three races this afternoon. While the group had struggled during the fourth race, their lowest finish after that was fourth.

UP NEXT

The Pirates return to action next weekend at their home regatta. Racing is set to begin on Saturday at Strawberry Banks.
