Hampton Sailing Set to Compete at Historic Truxtun Umsted

Hampton, Va. (April 11, 2025) … Hampton University is back in action at the historic Truxtun Umsted hosted by Navy. Racing is set to begin on Saturday, April 12th.

The Truxtun Umsted is considered a tier-one regatta. The high status of this weekend's race consists of the best teams in the country. Teams will be traveling from all over the country to compete in this regatta. Hampton has not competed at the Truxtun Umsted since the 2012 campaign.

In their last time out, the Pirates finished fourth at the Azalea Bowl hosted by UNCW. Coach Alessandro Ambrosi's side had eight top-five finishes. So far this season, Hampton has had a strong spring winning the program's first-ever team race at the Tom Noble Team Race. The Pirates have paired the strong finish at the Tom Noble with a second-place finish at the Hanbury Trophy.
