HAMPTON, Va. (June 6, 2025) … Hampton University's women's basketball team turned in another stellar performance in the classroom during the 2024-25 academic year as they posted a 3.62 team GPA in the Spring 2025 semester. In that total there were four who earned High Honors with Distinction for having a 4.0 GPA or higher, three were named to the Dean's List with High Honors for having a minimum 3.7 GPA and six making Dean's List with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
With the help of
Lila Grooms, Associate Athletic Director, Academic Achievement & Leadership,
the program has shown continuous improvement over the years. The implementation of academic counselors in the 2022-23 academic year is paying dividends for the women's basketball program. For the 2024-25 academic year, the team posted a 3.52 cumulative GPA.
This accomplishment is another highlight for Coach
Tamisha Augustin and her staff. On the court, Hampton knocked off another Power Four school in defeating Georgia in December and advanced a round in the CAA Conference Tournament after defeating Stony Brook 76-75 in March. The Pirates earned victories over Coastal Athletic Association opponents Towson, Stony Brook and Northeastern for the first time in program history.
As a department, a record 246 Pirate student-athletes, an amazing 87.5 percent, earned Dean's List recognition in the Spring 2025 semester.
