HAMPTON, Va. (Aug. 15, 2025) … Hampton University's cheer team turned in an impressive performance at the NCA College Camp in Myrtle Beach S.C. Under the direction of Coach Kelli Marin, the squad earned a first-place trophy in rally for the Division I Girl Intermediate.
 
The three-day cheer event included cheer, stunt and dance training along with various competitions with the goal of improving talents, skills and technique.
 
The outstanding execution earned the team an invitation to the College Nationals which will be held in Daytona Beach, Fla. in April 2026.
 
Junior Madeline Simpson participated in the All-American competition for the Pirates. The Orlando, Fla., native earned All-America recognition for her presentation.
 
A year ago, the Hampton cheer squad placed second in a field of 20 teams.
