Sailing travels to Navy for weekend regatta

HAMPTON, Va. (Sept. 12, 2025) … Hampton University sailing is back in action with a pair of regattas at the U.S. Naval Academy as they'll participate in the Chesapeake Open and the Mid-Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing Association (MAISA) Women's Singlehanded Championship.

The Pirates return to action this weekend following their 11th-place finish in the Riley Cup hosted by Old Dominion scoring 113 points. 

The A division was led by skipper Tyler Brown, who has competed in four Riley Cup regattas following last weekend, while Micah Brandel, Kera Beckles, Jackson Manley and Kiara-Lee Wright accompanied him. They put together a top-five finish in the 10th race. The B division added three top-five finishes as Ivey Bejar, Chloe Anderson and Manley led the way. 

Bejar will represent the Pirates in the Women's Singlehanded Championship also held at the Naval Academy.

The Pirates return to action Sept. 27-28 when they travel to Charleston, S.C. for the CofC Fall Interconference.
