NORFOLK, Va. (Apr. 1, 2026) ... The Hampton University women's team dropped a non-conference match with Norfolk State Wednesday 4-2. 

After losing the doubles match at the one spot, the combinations of Samira Khazieva/Chelsea Chakanyuka (6-4) and Serena Bryan/Melis Sakiroglu (6-4) each earned wins at the two and three spot to give Hampton the point. 

The Spartans battled back in singles, winning at the one, two, four, and six spots to eventually take down Hampton 4-2. Toffee Ghorab earned the Pirates lone win in singles with a 6-1, 6-3 victory.

Hampton takes the courts again Thursday when they host East Carolina. The match is slated to begin at 2:00 p.m.
