ELON, N.C. (May 15, 2026) … Through day one of the 2026 CAA Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Elon University on Friday, the Hampton Pirates currently sit in fifth place with 19 points following six of 21 events at the Jerry and Jeanne Robertson Track and Field Complex.
Danielle James took second in the long jump to score eight points with a leap of 5.94m (19-6). She was joined on a podium by
Jaida Graham who threw a 58.97m mark (193-5) in the hammer for six points and a third place finish.
On the track,
Peninah Mutisya ran her first 10,000 meter race of the season and took fourth with a time of 35:28.30 to earn four points for the Pirates.
Heading into Saturday's finals, the Pirates have several chances to make up some ground.
Brianna Charles qualified third in the 100 meters (11.69) and first in the 200 meters (23.67).
Carmen PenaSoto also has a double final day having qualified second in the 400 meter hurdles (59.95) and third in the 100 meter hurdles (13.86).
Mutisya will have another race on Saturday as she qualified fourth in the 1500 meters (4:27.70), while the Pirates will have four run in the 800 meters as
Kylee King (2:08.34),
Avah Savage (2:09.18),
Nia Warren (2:09.39) and
Mekayla Wilson (2:09.52) all advanced from Friday's prelims.
Host Elon leads the team event with 66 points, followed by William & Mary (59), Monmouth and Towson tied for third (20) and Hampton to round out the top five.
