HAMPTON, Va. (May 26, 2026) … The Hampton University track and field program will have nine student-athletes participating in the 2026 NCAA East Regional Championships beginning on Wednesday at the University of Kentucky.
Three women and six men will make the trek to the bluegrass state with the chance to qualify for the NCAA Championships to be held June 10-13 at the University of Oregon. The top 12 in each event at the NCAA East meet will advance to the NCAA Championships.
On the women's side,
Brianna Charles qualified in the 200 meters after running a personal best 23.10 to win the 200 at the CAA Championships last weekend. Charles was named the Track Athlete of the Meet at the outdoor championships to match the honor she won at the indoors in March.
Joining her in Lexington will be a pair of throwers who set personal bests at the CAA Championships.
Rochele Solmon qualified in the discus after a personal best of 52.79 meters to win the event.
Jaida Graham also qualified in the hammer following her personal best of 58.97 meters to take third.
With the men,
Jaci Summers earned a spot in the 100 meters after he ran a personal best 10.24 at the Aggie Invite and will be joined in the 400 by
Jayden Poteat who made the field with his 45.97 at the CAA Championships. In the hurdles,
Yashahya Brown will run in the 110 hurdles after making the field with his 13.80 at the CAA Championship and
Ethan Moody made the 400 hurdles field following his 51.87 at the CAA meet.
In the long jump,
Marquis White advanced to the regional with his 7.69 meter leap at the CAA's and
Delano Lawrence rounds out the qualifiers for Hampton in the discus with his school record 57.45 meter toss at the Liberty Twilight qualifier.
