HAMPTON, Va. (July 9, 2026) … Aidan Haskins from Hampton University's men's basketball team and Kiki McElrath from women's basketball, are among 150 student-athletes invited to participate in the Big 10 Life Series. The goal of this immersive educational experience is to empower the student-athletes to become better leaders and inspire change.
 
The conference will be held in Portland, Ore. From July 10-12. Participants will learn the historical and contemporary experiences of the Pacific Northwest tribes at the Grand Ronde reservation, as well as learn from the Oregon Black Pioneers, the Japanese American West Coast experience and participate in a nature walk at Multnomah Falls.
 
Haskins, a rising sophomore at Hampton, is a native of Washington, D.C. and graduated from Friendship Tech Prep. He saw action in 30 of Hampton's 32 games during the 2025-26 campaign while averaging 3.0 points with 18 assists. An outside marksman, he finished the season with 25 three-pointers, third most on the team.
 
A transfer from Delaware State, McElrath started at guard for the Pirates in 2025-26. The rising senior led the Pirates with a 13.2 scoring average, and her 59 three-pointers were tops on the team. McElrath earned Dean's List recognition at Hampton as well as the CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll.
