Named the team’s Defensive Player of the Year… played in 32 games for the Pirates, making 23 starts… fourth on the team with an average of 9.2 points per game… second in rebounding with 6.8 boards per contest… shot 87-for-186 (.468) from the floor on the season… led the team with 51 blocked shots, an average of 1.6 per game… scored in double figures 17 times… had four double-doubles on the season… scored 17 points on 6-for-10 shooting against Morgan State on Jan. 11… shot 4-for-9 from the floor and 8-for-14 from the free throw line to score 16 points against Longwood on March 1… pulled down a career-high 10 rebounds five times: against Iona (Nov. 17), at South Florida (Dec. 2), at Virginia (Dec.23), against Coppin State (Jan. 9) and against Bethune-Cookman (Jan. 23)… had a career-high five blocks against Monmouth on Nov. 29… also had four blocks against Bethune-Cookman (Jan. 23), against Longwood (March 1) and against Norfolk State (March 11).

MONROE COLLEGE/PARIS JUNIOR COLLEGE
Named Second Team All-Region and Most Improved as a freshman at Paris Junior College before transferring to Monroe, where he played his sophomore season.

UNIVERSITY ACADEMY
Averaged 21 points and eight rebounds a game as a senior, making All-County.

PERSONAL
Born Dec. 7, 1988… son of Rose and Charles Funches… has four siblings: Latreece, Michelle, Channon and Lamonte… nicknamed Chuck… featured in the Jersey Journal… majoring in sports management… plans to become a graphic designer.
